So, my story begins a year ago. On my last day of school a year ago, a friend told me about Dorian and how cool it was. Naturally, I looked up the registration dates for Dorian and I was sad to learn that I was too late to register for the camp that summer. And as they say, life goes on.
The next year, I signed up to go to Dorian. After signing up, I had the usual 2 weeks of preparation to get ready. That meant getting a weeks worth of clothes packed up, getting a fan (since the dorms we were staying at weren't air conditioned), and to not get sick. It would have really sucked if I had gotten sick the day before I got to go to Dorian. Thankfully I didn't get sick before Dorian.
I would be at the camp from Sunday, June 18, to Saturday, which was June 25. The drive was only an hour and a half, so it wasn't so bad. Compared to some other campers, I felt lucky. My roommate had to travel for 3 and a half hours to get to Dorian, while another guy had to travel for 8 hours to get to Dorian. It was kind of fun, moving into a small dorm room for a week, If I told you guys everything I did during camp, you'd spend an extra 10 minutes reading this article. So, here are some of the highlights.
I did some of these things when I was there.
1. Choir- was a 240 piece choir with an awesome director.
2. Chamber Choir- choir for the elite singers. There were around 20ish people in it.
3. Band- was a 200 piece band with an awesome director.
4. Vocal Performance- A class where you learn how to sing well in front of an audience.
5. I got to do some cool activities during the evening, such as going to see a waterfall, going out for ice cream at some local ice cream shack, and going to a pool party on the last full day of camp.
So, after a very fast week, the final day had come. I packed up my belongings and got dressed for the end of Dorian concert. This concert shows off almost everything. Band, orchestra, choir, and musical theatre all perform during this last show. The show itself was from 1:00 PM to 4:15 PM, so it's quite long. But, there is 3 or 4 little 15 minute intermissions for parents and other people to stretch out their legs. Overall, it was a good concert.
On my way home, I decided to go to Dorian again next year. See you next year Dorian!!!!
